Signal Booster Antenna

Signal Booster Antenna: How Are They Different From Each Other?

Signal boosters make sure that your cell phone connectivity remains at the top, and we all know that. But did you know that the antenna included in your kit plays just as much a significant role in keeping your connections strong and stable?

In fact, without an antenna, a booster has no signals to strengthen. The antenna can catch the signals and send them to the amplifier for use, which is then sent to another antenna to transmit to your cellular devices. It does the same when your cell phone has to send the signal back.

Did you know though, that there are different types of antennas you can use with your signal boosters? Cell Boost offers three different types of antennas that provide different benefits and uses. Let’s explore this further:

Yagi Antenna

It is a directional antenna, which means it transmits to and catches signals from one main direction only, but it does that quite well as it sends and receives in a focussed transmission beam. It is best used to communicate between two points with a distance of three to five miles. A yagi antenna provides a good range between two points and can be conveniently used as a bridge to establish a connection between an access point and devices.

Panel Antenna

This is a directional antenna as well and can be conveniently used to connect to the nearest cell tower. However, unlike the yagi antenna, the panel variation has a wider beam. This means that it can cover a larger arc of area, and also has a higher gain. It can send stronger signals and can catch weak signals.

Log Periodic Dipole Array Antenna

An LPDA antenna looks the same internally and functions almost the same as a yagi antenna. What’s different is that it sports a better bandwidth than a yagi. It is also a one-directional antenna and provides an equal level of gain as a yagi. What it does better can operate on numerous frequencies. That makes it the primary choice as an antenna for boosting cell phones for multiple networks.

Directional antennas are convenient to adjust as far as connecting to cell towers are concerned and make it quite convenient for an end-user. Cell Boost provides all three types of antennas mentioned above for different situations. If you are looking for the right antenna for your signal booster, you may check out our accessories shop.
